COMECalculate a cricket innings' current run rate
Current run rate describes runs scored per over so far. Convert cricket over notation into valid balls before doing the arithmetic.
Convert the denominator
For an illustrative 75 runs after 10 overs, the current rate is 7.5 per over. For 10.3 overs, the denominator is ten and a half overs because three of six valid balls have been bowled; it is not 10.3 decimal overs.
Read the correct total
Use the team's runs and completed valid-ball count for that innings. Do not substitute an individual batter's score or a bowler's figures. Check whether the scorecard is showing current or required run rate.
Avoid predicting from one rate
A rate summarises scoring so far. Wickets, remaining time and conditions still matter, and the rate does not guarantee a final total. A projection based on it should not be confused with an actual score.
